The name of the blog comes from the song "Reckoner" by Radiohead. I've seen them in concert nine times in five countries, which is really negligible by the standards of some of my friends.

Um, Roe v. Wade. (Pause) Updated.
That’s the latest on Gov. Palin. Katie Couric was asking her about Supreme Court decisions, and apparently, the only Supreme Court case she could come up with was Roe v. Wade. Unlike Sen. Obama, I’m no ConLaw scholar, and while … Continue reading
Cowboys and mavericks. Let’s keep them in the multiplex, where they belong.
Obama is a really smart guy. Contrary to Sen. McCain’s repeated assertions, he understands. ( I keep belabouring this point, but just because McCain and Palin say it doesn’t make it so. Hell, even the Republicans don’t know what Sarah … Continue reading

Here’s a giggle for you.
Well it made me laugh, at least. You know how Sarah Palin’s highly secure, outside-the-purview-of-official-subpoena-or-FOIA, Important State Business, Yahoo! email account was hacked this week, I assume. I have some issues with hacking in general, but if somehow some Important … Continue reading

John McCain
A subject I’ve largely avoided. I was reading what David Foster Wallace had written in Rolling Stone about John McCain in 2000, and he seems to have had a pretty good opinion of the man as a man. A lot … Continue reading
Infinite sadness.
David Foster Wallace, 46, has apparently hanged himself. Infinite Jest is one of my Top 20 all-time favourite books. What a fucking waste. The NYT has a good piece on him as well.
Hockey Mom, Reformer, Machiavellian Nepotist. You know, the usual.
First in-depth article by the NYT. Thank you. Now my visceral mistrust has some concrete reasons to latch on to.
