I have had four random strangers with realllllly long gmail addresses subscribe to this blog.

I’ve deleted them on principle, since I don’t know them, and it’s easy enough to bookmark the blog if you have an overwhelming interest in it. Subscription doesn’t confer any posting or editing powers or anything.

If there’s some reason you want to be subscribed, random strangers, comment and tell me so

Actually, it’s even weirder if you consider that there’s nowhere to subscribe on the page, that I can see.

I did some automatic updates, trying to keep everything together and functional. And then things got all screwed up…my backend got all discombobulated and I couldn’t do anything. So I reloaded a lesser update from my control panel, which at least left everything accessible, but screwed up other stuff.

Then the “new and improved” version of my theme lost all of its customizability, and I wasn’t able to tweak my column widths to put things where I wanted them.

So here I am with a new theme, which I have not been able to make entirely how I want it, and apologies for the crowded look here and there, and if anyone can explain to me the mystery of why my twitter feed, whose code in the widget and in the style sheet seems exactly like my last.fm feed, is in UNCHANGEABLY ENORMOUS text, I’d appreciate it.

Perhaps I’ll figure out where to adjust the font colours for links etc. also, as that uniform grey is a little dull. And I would prefer the right column a little wider. And the little “site admin” link that used to appear on the page (just to me I suppose) when I was logged in was quite useful also.

But whatever.

It’s alive! and I will continue to frankenstein it until I get it where I want it.

the whole updating thing is sometimes beyond me, I admit.

I have to resize the bitch and see if I can make the sidebar come back.

Le sigh.

or just an odd duck (no, that’s not rhyming slang), but one of the most fun things about this blog is seeing who visits it.

Yes, we have the technology! we can rebuild him! …er, well, I can see, generally, what brings people here (google searches, e.g., or links from the few places I have linked) and where they come from (or where their IPs say they’re coming from, which, I suppose, is not necessarily the same thing), and whether they’re hanging out to read a few posts or just bouncing back into cyberspace).

So I recognize some people easily enough (HEY BROOKLYN! YO PHILLY! G’DAY SYDNEY! WASSUP SASKATOOOON!) and can speculate about others (WHAT HO, LONDON! *WAVES AT DENMARK* NORFOLK, IS THAT YOU?) but some are complete mysteries: nonetheless, I greet you, Moscow, Singapore, Sweden, Finland, Japan…and mystery visit of the week, Salt Lake City.

I must say it’s more virulently, pepto-bismolly, pink on a Windows machine than it is on my Macs. Not sure why! but I apologize to my unenlightened friends for the visual shock.

I hope to get the font colours back where I want them soon.

I’d really like to know why my tagging thing is all verklemmt. It’s pissing me off.

Sigh.
